All the characters are named after the areas of the UK Shipping Forecast. The idea was originated by John Grace and submitted to the competition 'Maritime England'. McGuillycuddy: a village on the mainland overlooking the lighthouse island: named after the real MacGillycuddy's Reeks in Ireland.Eddie Stone: owns the village shop also is the village's milkman, mayor, postman, meter-reader and policeman.Inspector Ronaldsway: belongs to the lighthouse service.

There are few landscapes as picturesque as a lighthouse along a rocky coast. Suddenly he sees that he is no longer alone in the midst of the ocean waves: he sees that people are caring for him with paternal solicitude.
